eMA is currently running a community youth mentoring project at Korogocho slums in Nairobi. We have partnered with the Kasarani Youth Polytechnic and Resource Centre to offer value-based mentorship to the youth. 57 youth are presently registered and benefitting from the free training. This community mentoring program links role models (mentors) who are volunteers from business, industry, community organisations and environment groups, with young people between 17 – 31 years through face to face interactions. The focus is on supporting these young people to successfully negotiate the transition points in their life. These transitions may be from High School to further education, training, employment or entrepreneurship.
Our Curriculum
Our mentoring curriculum was developed after much consultations and research. It is tailored to specifically suit the interests of the youth and the myriad challenges confronting them in Kenya. The curriculum has 5 modules, each with four topics. Each module is taught in 4 weeks (one month). The broad modules include:

How the Program Operates
• Volunteer mentors express interest in one or more of the above mentioned modules
• eMA staff reviews the requests and grants approval to mentors to facilitate one (or more) of the sessions.
• Mentors come to the mentoring centre, that is, Kasarani Youth Polytechnic and Resource Centre at Korogocho, on Friday afternoon, 2-5p.m and offer Face-to-Face mentoring
• The eMA team assists the mentees and is a support unit for the volunteer mentors, and conducts evaluation at the end of each session.
